Océan Vagabond Dakhla is an Eco Surf Hotel situated on the lagoon of Dakhla peninsula, in the moroccon desert. Ideally set up to fit your perfect holidays, we know you will take the best of it when you'll come alone, with some friends, with your lover or whole family. As an Oasis in the middle of nowhere, Océan Vagabond Team is waiting for you to discover one of its 30 bungalows and incredible surroundings.

On the Ocean's side, the southern coast hides many famous Surf Spots. School waves, long and clean rights allowing beginners to learn and advanced to improve their skills. The swell is generally coming for the winter period, from November to March. Then the wind used to pick up quite strong and summer times give priority to Kitesurf and Windsurf around the place.

Zen Cabana :
Style cottage on stilts, feet in the water at high tide, and stunning views over the lagoon. It houses the relaxing waves Massage du Monde offers sessions of relaxation and well-being. Our Kitesurfing Champion Kirsty Jones works on Yoga, Hatha sessions, way to feel the energies of body and mind.

An Eco-Tourist Center :
Labeled "Green Key", this project was born in Dakhla in July 2010 in a friendly approach to the environment.
Infrastructure construction in wood, maximizing local resources, creating an eco-system with 2,500 plants, decrease carbon footprint and consumption management, responsible management part of a sustainable development approach with the implementation of actions eco-citizen (advocacy, beach cleaning ...).

Enjoy a nice full board stay with 3 meals a day in a green and natural atmosphere, with a high quality hotel service.
Built at the bottom of the Dunes, our wood village fits perfectly into his environement. Our 30 bungalows can offer you well being and intimacy, as they all give you sea view from their little terrasse.
You can choose between two types of bungalow, with or without private bathroom inside, for 1, 2 or 3 persons depending on your needs.

The Bungalows "Supérieurs"

Our 25 m2 bungalows are fitted with a bedroom, a bathroom and toilet, and a terrace sheltered from the wind. Each Bungalow has room for up to 3 people. Bed linen and bath towels are provided, but don’t forget your beach towels! (Océan Vagabond beach towels are available for sale at the Surfshop).

The Bungalows "Young Blood"

Our 12 m2 bungalows are fitted with a bedroom  and a terrace sheltered from the wind. Each Bungalow has room for up to 2 people. Bed linen and bath towels are provided, but don’t forget your beach towels! (Océan Vagabond beach towels are available for sale at the Surfshop). You'll find a bathroom bungalows with 4 showers & 3 toilets.

• Water for washing comes from sulphurous, naturally warm springs (good for your skin but not fit for drinking! ).
• Electricity (220 V) is supplied by an electric generator unit in operation from 5 am to 3 pm and 5 pm to 3 am. In order to help protect the environment, we have concentrated on saving energy, so appliances with heating elements will not work here (hair dryers, irons etc.) 
• Internet connection free. 
• Our maids clean the rooms every day. 
• A safe is available at reception.

Meal Plan

Food from here and there
The Chef offers a range of delights with traditional Moroccan, African, Asian and Lebanese dishes. Fresh fish and seafood depending on the catch of the day.
Our full-board accommocation offer includes three buffet style meals per day, healthy and balanced, in our restaurant room overlooking the lagoon. A la carte menus are also available according to the Chef's inspiration (oysters from Dakhla, grilled lobsters...).

Beach hut African style, chill out during the day and evening fiesta at the discretion of our djembes Bartender shaking cocktails. You will not miss a ride at the Beach Bar.

The restaurant and bar and Club Mistral have a terrace that faces the lagoon.Meals are served at the restaurant at the following times : 

• breakfast : from 8 am to 10.30 am
• lunch : from 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm
• dinner : from 8 pm to 10 pm

For a supplement you can order Dakhla oysters, rock lobsters, grilled fish... and our chef Luc’s original dishes.

Spots

Aarich
Located in a large bay, this wave is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in Morocco. Its progressive surge makes this spot a great place to learn the basics of surfing, perfect his technical knowledge or improve riding style.
The configuration of Aarich offer, whatever the tide and wind intensity and swell, waves always beautiful and pleasant to ride.

Foum Labouir :
Close to town, beach Foum Labouir is the essential spot in Dakhla. The beach stretches for several kilometers and you can find rights and lefts on sandbanks that evolve depending on tides. You will appreciate a point where waves held regularly on a rocky pile, usually covered with sand. The hollow and fast flood from the wave becomes progressivehalf way  and will be ideal for beginner or intermediate surfers.

Sarga :
This is one of the most beautiful and inaccessible wave in Morocco. With an overall length standard, the wave of La Sarga winds along a several miles sandbar. The wave is very scalable and following sections depending on the tides.

History

Geography

Morocco is a country bordering both seas: the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.
In the Centre, the Rif and Atlas Mountain chains that block the scenery. From this diversity of grounds was born a great variety of Moroccan landscapes which are among the most beautiful of the world.

The Atlantic coast is spreading out 2 800 km wide, whereas the Mediterranean coast only has 530 km of coast. It is bordered of plains (Sebou, Mesema and Sous) which are the most populated and rich regions of the country.
Beautiful beaches, harbours, and large centres like Casablanca, Safi and Rabat are following one another.

FORMALITIES :
A valid Passport is required for travelling without any hotel reservation. European Union nationals whose stay (3 hotel nights max) has already been paid at a travel agency can be satisfied with their national ID.

LANGUAGE :
Today, like every Arabic country, we distinguish the classic Arabic (or literary, accessible to the literate people) which is the language of education, administration and medias from the dialectal Arabic, spoken language that change according to the regions and the social classes.
Berber is the second language, used in many Moroccan regions. Most Moroccans who went to school can speak French.

HEALTH :
No vaccine is required by the authorities for those coming from Europe. Some vaccines yet are useful for the traveller’s own safety.

TIME DIFFERENCES :
Morocco is set to the Greenwich meridian time (GMT). When it is noon in France, it is 10.AM in Morocco in summer and 11.AM in winter.

WEATHER :
Morocco’s climate is very different according to the regions: Mediterranean in the North, Atlantic in the West and Saharan in the South. Only the coastal regions are temperate. It also changes according to the seasons. Temperature gaps are sometimes very large in the same day.

DRIVING CONDITIONS :
Moroccans have their own way to read the road signs. Here, everything can happen; therefore you need to pay attention.
You should not drive at night. In case of accident, call right away the consulate and then the Police (very often you are first locked up and you may talk later).

WATER/ELECTRICITY :
Avoid fresh juices outside of hotels, ice cubes, milk and seafood outisde hotels or restaurant. The mineral water has to be opened in front of you.

CURRENCY :
Moroccan’s money is Dirham. 10 dirhams (Dh) is about 1 euro. Credit cards are accepted in most important institutions (hotels, restaurants, shops) and in most gas stations.
There are also in the large centres ATM machines where you can withdraw dirhams with most credit cards.
