On Saturdays, a special yoga for surfers is offered, with the double purpose of strength-training (conditioning) and post-surf restoration (therapy). These classes physically and mentally prepare the surfer for his next surf session, heals him from the previous one, and gets the ‘stoke’ to last longer.

Siargao is also popular in the Philippines for big game fishing.  Blue marlin, yellow and black fin tuna are up for grabs.  One of our guests recently landed a 20kg tuna!

The latest activity in Siargao ! Drunken Carabao (Water buffalo) Tour, the idea is that you take a native style ride through Siargao’s beautiful countryside and hills with amazing views topping the tour off with watching a wonderful sun set.

The tour is run by Siargao English expats Liam and Carl.
You are provided endless amount of alcohol:
1. Rum and Coke
2. Alcohol version of moonshine
3. Beer
For the tour, there is usually a minimum of 6 people. Do not worry, people come from different resorts for this one of a kind activity. The tour costs 1000PHP per person. These tours tend to begin at 15:00, most tours last at least 2-3 hours. Have fun !

Best Period

Especially influenced by the typhoons coming from the Chinese Sea, the Philippines islands go through the NE monsoon, from October to February, the most propitious time to surf 0.50 to 1.50 meters waves. The SW monsoon brings some nice swells from July to September but some humidity as well. From April to June, there is less swell.

Winds are often SW offshore. We witness nice glassy periods after the tropical storms. No problem with tides.
Coral bottom sometimes sharp-edged – bring boots – many seaweeds in some places. Locals are fairly welcoming and there are not many people in the water.

Cloud 9 : Famous wave unrolling right in front of the hotel – no need for a boat – beautiful view – Right fairly short but giant tubes !
Tuason Point : A hollow left with not much bottom – Works beyond 1.20 meters. For experienced surfers.
Barrio : On Daco Island, 4 km off the shore. A long nice right.
Pancit Reef : Breaks on a reef out at sea – A long, consistent wave that handles well heavy swell. Works in low tide – North of Cloud 9
Pacifico : A gorgeous left of the reef. An hour boat ride from Sagana Resort. Works in all tide.Stimpies : A world-class left – 10 min from the hotel. Like an engine speeding on the railways in every size. An epic, impressive wave – for trained surfers.
Rock Island : 10 min by boat from Sagana Resort – a long fun and regular right.
Jacking Horse : Nervous right but pleasant to surf. Nice for intermediate surfers when it is small.

Surf Story

Between Asia and the Pacific. Mix of Asian and Polynesian culture.
Complete escape in delicate and virgin waves, at the end of an exotic trip.
We all have in mind the image of Coppola’s movie Apocalypse Now, with this guy surfing within a tropical scenery. Philippines has also a musty tastes of Malaysian, Chinese and Spanish influence and is also an extremely kind nation.
Several clean zones to surf at: Badoc in NW of Luzon, Majestics on Catanduances and Cloud 9, the famous right on Siargo’s island.
The Philippines, a wild and quality surf trip…
